1. Introduction

Welcome to 247 Loans. Our commitment is to protect your privacy and personal data by adhering to the best global standards, and in particular to the Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the National Credit Act, No. 34 of 2005 (NCA).

247 Loans does not offer loans directly. We connect you to our panel of lenders through our free, quick online application process.

2. What personal information we collect

When you apply for our services, we collect:

• Basic identification details: name, email address, telephone number, South African ID number, date of birth, physical city.
• Financial and employment details: employment status, net income range, bank, loan amount requested, debt review status.
• Credit information: with your explicit consent, we may obtain your credit report from a registered credit bureau.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and device, cookies and similar tracking technologies used on this website.

3. Credit bureau checks

By applying for a credit product through 247 Loans, you give us permission to conduct a credit bureau check on your behalf. The result of this check may be shared with our lending panel to find you a suitable product.

4. How we use your information

By using this site and submitting an application (or opting in to receive marketing), you agree that 247 Loans may:

• Provide your data to our panel of lenders for the purpose of matching you with a suitable credit product.
• Use profiling tools and models to better position products for your needs (only where you have opted in).
• Allow our partners to contact you directly with suitable offers, news or related information.
• Share aggregated, non-identifying data with analytics and advertising partners (such as Google Ads and Meta/Facebook Ads) to measure ad performance on our behalf.

5. Data retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes stated above or as required by law:

• Active applications and related communications: up to 5 years from the date of last activity, in line with the record-keeping requirements of the NCA.
• Marketing opt-in records: until you opt out or withdraw your consent.
• Financial record keeping (loan opening date, amount, ID number): up to 5 years after the closure of any account, as required by South African financial regulators.
• Technical / cookie data: up to 24 months.

After the applicable retention period, your data is securely deleted or anonymised.

6. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal record-keeping obligations).
• Object to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

7. How we protect your data

Your data is transmitted over 256-bit SSL-encrypted connections and stored on secure servers hosted within jurisdictions that offer adequate data protection. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised staff on a need-to-know basis, and every staff member has signed confidentiality undertakings.

8. Marketing opt-out

Every marketing email from 247 Loans or our partners contains an unsubscribe link. You may also register with the DMA national opt-out database at dmasa.org under the Consumer Protection Act No. 68 of 2008.

9. Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your browsing experience, analyse traffic, and (where you have consented) serve relevant advertising. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but some features of the site may not work correctly if you do.
